Mission Statement

Mission Statement: I will develop the higher level thinking skills of all students. I will create an environment for my students that encourages creative thinking, problem solving, and risk-taking. My students will gain knowledge of art and culture throughout history and the modern world. My students will use the elements and principles of art and design to create a portfolio of original works of art. My students will evaluate their work and the work of others.

Just some things I'm currently using in my classroom....

This is my  "Self Critique" board, mainly for my middle school and 4th and 5th grade students.  I've based in on the Principles of Art.  I always grade on these things so they always know what to expect.  My middle school students fill out a form for every major project with these guiding questions.

K-5 is currently learning about Hundertwasser....

Middle school is learning about illuminated letters
Here is my "Virtue Point" Wall so far this year.  Several classes have already earned "Celebrations" which I let them choose.  Some have chose popcicles, some popcorn, some cookies, some a "free art" day.  Keep in mind I teach at a VERY small school with small classes--otherwide i couldn't afford the snacks.
4th and 5th grade students are reviewing how to create space and depth with their Hundertwasser landscapes.....
